You Have Tried to Calm the Overwhelm. Now Let’s Go Underneath It.
A guided activation that combines nervous system reset, limbic rewiring, and CBT-based work, done the Set Free Method way, where Jesus meets you at the root.
You may have heard of nervous system reset work, with breathing practices and body awareness that help calm the stress response. Or limbic system rewiring, where you retrain the brain’s stuck patterns through repetition and conditioning. Or CBT-based tools like the LIVEN app, where you surface distorted thoughts and replace them with more accurate ones.
All three work. To a point.
What they cannot do is reach the place where the real agreement lives. The deep belief your soul made, often long ago, about whether you are safe, whether you are loved, whether God will actually come through for you. That belief lives in the body. It drives every pattern. And it will keep driving them until something reaches it at the level where it actually lives.
This activation does all three. Nervous system regulation, limbic rewiring, and thought-level work. And then goes further. Into the Set Free method. Into the presence of Jesus. Into the place where the actual healing happens.
That is what you are about to experience. Come as you are. Press play.
After you finish, write down three things:
1. What did I notice in my body? Where was the tension, heaviness, or guardedness? What shifted during the practice?
2. What belief came up? What was the agreement underneath the automatic thought, the thing your soul has been organizing around?
3. What truth did Jesus give me? Write it exactly as it came. Then write your anchor phrase, five to seven words, somewhere you will see it today.
Come back to this tomorrow. And the day after. The new pathway forms through returning, not through doing it perfectly once.
There is no failure here. Only returning.
If You Finished the Activation and Still Feel Stuck
Sometimes you press play, you go through the practice, and something shifts. And sometimes you finish and the weight is still there. You feel flat, heavy, caught in a loop you cannot seem to exit.
And oftentimes it takes repeated exposure to retain your system. That is why we recommend going through this once each day for 7 days in a row.
There is no failure in this. As you continue to receive revelation from Him about the feelings inside, you see a path forward and don’t feel so stuck.
Understanding the Overwhelm Cycle
Overwhelm rarely arrives all at once. It usually moves in a pattern that looks like a figure eight. You go, go, go. Do, do, do. You push and produce and manage and hold everything together until the energy runs out. Then you drop down into depletion, that flat, heavy, nothing-left place where even small things feel impossible. And then, before you have actually rested or healed, you start trying to rise back up again, pushing yourself to get going, feeling guilty for being down, telling yourself you should be further along. And the cycle starts over.
This is not a character flaw. This is a nervous system stuck in a loop it does not know how to exit. And the way out is not to push harder through the top of the loop or to shame yourself at the bottom of it. The way out is to stop, get curious, and look at what is underneath it.
Why the Cycle Is So Hard to Exit on Your Own
The figure eight is not just an emotional pattern. It is a nervous system pattern. At the top of the loop, your sympathetic nervous system is driving, fight, fix, do, manage, control. When it burns out, you drop into the bottom of the loop where the nervous system collapses into shutdown. Neither state is rest. Neither state is healing. They are both survival responses.
And here is what makes it harder. The limbic system, the part of the brain that processes emotion and threat, has learned this loop. It has filed it as the familiar route. So even when part of you wants to get off the loop, your brain keeps pulling you back onto it because familiar feels safer than unknown, even when familiar is exhausting.
This is why willpower does not work here. You cannot think or discipline yourself off a route your nervous system is running automatically. You have to go underneath it, to the belief that is fueling the loop, and release it at the root. That is what the Revelation Record does. That is what the activation does. And that is what your coaching call can help you do when the loop feels too strong to exit alone.
Start with Curiosity, Not Criticism
When overwhelm shows up, the first move is not to fix it. It is to notice it.
You are the thinker of your thoughts and the feeler of your feelings. They are happening inside you, but they are not you. You are the one who can observe them, name them, and bring them somewhere. So start here. Get curious. Notice what is present without judging it.
You might say quietly: I notice I feel overwhelmed. I notice my body feels heavy. I notice I want to shut down. I notice I am telling myself I cannot do this.
Just notice. No fixing yet. No pushing through yet. Just honest, gentle observation.
That noticing is not weakness. It is the first step of the Revelation Record. And it is exactly where healing begins.
Be Compassionate Toward the Overwhelm
Overwhelm is not just an inconvenience. It is trying to do something for you. It may be protecting you from a deeper feeling underneath, something that feels too big, too painful, or too uncertain to face directly. Shutdown, avoidance, and the frantic doing at the top of the loop are all ways the soul tries to stay safe from what it does not yet know how to hold.
So before you try to move through the overwhelm, get curious about it. Ask it what it is trying to do. You might pray: Jesus, what is this overwhelm protecting me from? What is underneath it that feels too much to face?
And then be compassionate toward it. It has been working hard to keep you safe. It does not need to be punished or pushed past. It needs to be seen, understood, and eventually released to Jesus, who can hold what it has been trying to carry for you.
Do a Starter Revelation Record with What You Notice
You do not need to have everything figured out to begin the Revelation Record. You just need what is present right now. The overwhelm itself is enough to start with.
Notice where you feel it in your body. Notice what thought or belief is connected to it. Notice what emotion is underneath the overwhelm when you get quiet enough to feel it. Maybe it is fear. Maybe it is grief. Maybe it is the belief that you are alone in this, or that you will never change, or that you have already fallen too far behind.
Whatever surfaces, bring it to Jesus exactly as it is. Name the belief. Release the agreement. Receive His truth in its place. That is the work. And you can do it right now, with whatever is present, without waiting until you feel better first.
If the Cycle Continues, Ask for Support
If you have gone through these steps and you are still feeling caught in the figure eight, that is not failure. That is the signal that you need a hand out of the loop. And that is exactly what your coaching calls are for.
Bring the overwhelm to your next call. You do not need to have it resolved or figured out before you show up. Bring it exactly as it is. We can find the way out of the cycle together, identify what is underneath it, and do the Revelation Record work on what is actually driving it. You do not have to carry this alone until you feel better. Come with it now.
You can also post in the group anytime. Let the community hold you when the cycle feels like too much to carry on your own.
A few reflection questions when you are ready:
Think of one or two times in your life when something felt impossible and then shifted. What was your posture in that season, trust, perseverance, surrender, asking for help?
Think of one time when you felt completely stuck and God worked something out that you could not have engineered yourself. What did that teach you about Him? About yourself?
What is one small next step, not a solution, just one step, that feels possible right now?
You are not here to figure everything out by yourself. That is the whole point. His Spirit lives in you and you are one with Him. The answers are not outside you waiting to be found. They are inside you waiting to be uncovered, with Him, through Him, in the safety of His presence.
You are not behind. You are not failing. You are not too far into the loop to find your way out.
You are exactly where the work needs you to be.
Keep going.
