How to Live with Integrity
How do we live with Integrity?
The definition of integrity is“the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.”
We all have different ideas about integrity when it comes to how we live our lives. For me, integrity means following God and His word above all else.
I’ve also thought of integrity as “doing the right thing when nobody is watching.” It’s easy to do the right thing when you know you’re being watched, but it’s powerful to see someone do the right thing when they have no idea the spotlight is on them.
I see it all the time as a schoolteacher— a student sees another person hurting and rushes to help. A teacher cleans out the communal microwave because she knows it will benefit everyone. A grade 2 student notices garbage on the ground and picks it up automatically without anyone noticing.
I just happen to notice because I’m always looking for those authentic displays of integrity.
I believe that when they do these things, they are living out their integrity — and it impacts everyone in a positive way. It’s a powerful and integral way of “loving your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31)
I know that God is ALWAYS watching. He sees everything I do — whether it is right or wrong. As I go about my day, making different choices, I think about whether those choices honour Him.
Why? Becase integrity is important to me AND the best way I can show high integrity, honesty and morals is to follow God and what He desires for me.

I love the quote in this image — it reminds me that when I make a choice that is right in His eyes, I have nothing to be afraid of.
I don’t need to be afraid of making a choice that doesn’t serve my greatest good.
I don’t need to be afraid that I’m going against God and His desires for me.
I don’t have to fear the judgment of others.
I don’t have to worry that I’ll have to backtrack later.
I just know that I am doing what I believe He would wat for me and that gives me peace.
Because I am living in integrity.
It may not always be the choice my flesh wants, but it is the RIGHT one and that is the highest level of moral uprightness I can display.
How about you?
How do you stand in integrity and live that out every day?
Do you believe that you will have less fear when you are doing what is right in God’s eyes?
I believe you will, but you need to believe it for yourself.
And when you do what’s right in His eyes, “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
And that is a beautiful place to be!
